In The Hills Above Hamilton
We stopped on a short track on the way back from Raglan. Beyond the hills is the Plain of Hamilton. We were walking along and saw this old trunk of a fern and thought it was a good place for a picture. I tried to get Gareth to do something fun for the picture, but he didn't want to.

The two of us met in 1993 in Europe and when we were in the main antiquities museum in Athens, Greece, I wanted to take a picture of Gareth before we said goodbye. I wanted him to imitate the pose of a nearby statue, but he didn't want to. I said, "Well fine. I'm not going take a boring picture." So he looks around and reluctantly assumes the pose of the statue. I remember the sheepish look on his face as he did this. It actually made for a good picture. Well, I let him go with a plain picture this time.

Even though I wasn't feeling the greatest on this day as I was leaving soon, I still managed a smile.
