Building A Ladder To The Flying Foxes

Lashing The Trunks

While out on our forest walk, the mob brought me to the base of a cliff.  At the top, was a cave filled with one of the largest bats in the world, which is known as a flying fox.  It's not the normal tiny bat that are common near my home rather this is a bat that you salute when you meet them.  To get to the cave, they improvised a ladder in a short period of time and then went hunting in the cave.

This shows how they lash the ladder together with vines.  They cut down some small trees and remove the branches before lashing them together.

Passing The Vines
Here they're getting higher up the cliff, handing up additional vines for tying the next tree trunk on.  They cut the vines from the forest and then use the machete to split the vines to make them easier to tie things up with them.

Moving Upwards
This whole ladder is built entirely of bush materials.  They don't have to go far to collect them.

Nearly There
They're getting fairly close to the top of the cliff here.  Once on top of the ledge, they can get to the cave where they'll hunt the bats.  Now can you see why Nimson wouldn't let me up there?
