It wasn't unusual for the clouds to blow in and limit visiblity.  There have been times when the clouds were so thick that one couldn't see the trail ahead, so it was best to sit still and wait for them to blow away again.  I was approaching a dropoff that was obscured by the clouds.  Suddenly it cleared...
