Far down in the center of the valley, Lake Katherine is visible from some places on the pass.  If you follow the track itself, you can't see the lake, but if you head off to the right side of the saddle, you can catch this glimpse of it.  The track hugs the left side of these steep cliffs that are known as Echo Cliffs and yes, they really do echo.
