I had feelings of
ambivalence when I
finished the track, but I knew
that
the momentous event must be recorded for all of mankind throughout the
ages. You can see the end of the trail just to the left of
the
sign. In the rain, my hands were so cold that I could barely
operate
the buttons to use the self-timer function of my camera. In
my
vain
attempts, I accidentally snapped a picture.
In
the text, I mention that it stopped raining at the very end of the
track and that is meant literally. Click on the larger
version of
the above picture and you can very clearly see it's raining.
Less
so on the second picture and not at all on the last two pictures.
Ok, I'm going to try
again. Some
people might say, "I was
freezing
my ass off." Well, I wasn't, as most of me was quite warm, it
was
only
my hands that that were freezing. I still couldn't operate
the
self-timer
function correctly.
I resort to using a small stick to
poke
at the buttons and I finally
press the proper buttons in the proper order. I run to the
sign,
grab my pack, and lift it over my head. I hear the camera
click
and
then I realize that I was standing in front of the sign. D'oh!
I go back to the camera and look for
the small stick that I had just
discarded. It was hard to operate the camera, but the stick
really
helped. I reset the camera and run to the sign
again.
Success!
