Before you ask, "What the hell is your hideous boot doing in this picture?" I'll explain. I have a friend, Timmy the System Doryphore, who once remarked to a coworker, "Pretty snazzy sneakers, Chuck." Wanting to make sure that Timmy would always be able to appreciate his shoes, Chuck took a couple of snapshots of the shoes and put them on Timmy's wall. Not to be outdone, when I traveled in the western U.S. I took a lot of pictures of my shoes and boots with scenic backgrounds and gave them to Timmy. When I traveled in Europe I took a lot of pictures of my shoes with famous landmarks. I didn't see any reason to change this when I was in NZ.
This is Mitre Peak. It's 1695 meters tall and as you can see, comes straight out of the water. It's at the end of Milford Sound and is unique a mountain as any. I've heard Mitre Peak referred to as Postcard Peak as everyone takes a picture of it and it appears on postcards throughout the country. Given that this is the case, I decided that I wanted my picture to be a bit different and also to send one home to Timmy. I know how much he appreciates this.
