I found it very pleasant to walk among the groves of joshua trees.  The word "grove" might seem to be misused here, but in the desert, this is a dense growth of trees.  They don't have leaves in the conventional sense, but they are of such a form that allows them to preserve water that is all too uncommon in the desert.
