The entire Mt. Memphis area is surrounded by tall mountain peaks.  Some are covered in snow while some are green and rocky.  I've always liked this particular mountain, whose name is unknown.  While I had previously seen this mountain, it was the first time that I had this view of the mountain with this tarn and a precipitous drop behind it.  I walked along the right side of the tarn, crossed the stream, and had to walk along the left side to get around the rocks.  This tarn drained down the side of Mt. Memphis and eventually made their way into the Spey River.  From there it drained into Lake Manapouri and eventually makes it into the ocean.  I'm not sure where the water ends up after that.  Possibly fish pee or something?
