This is a unique picture of the
ending of the
Pleasant Range. The track goes around a small knob at bottom
of
the picture and then you can follow it off into the distance to where
the range descends a thousand meters to the valley below.
That
descent starts just beyond the end of the visible tussock.
The
snows had just ended when this picture was taken and would not be an
issue the rest of the day but the slack was taken up when the rains
started.
It's also neat in that you can see the junction of three valleys.
To the left is the valley where the Jane Burn joins the
Seaforth
River. Just beyond the range is the valley that the track
and
Seaforth River follows to Dusky Sound, which is just visible off in the
distance. The valley to the right also holds the
Seaforth,
which is visible in several spots. The track follows the
river
upstream to Centre Pass.
