I call this a gateway as 100 meters earlier the track crosses this river on a three-wire bridge and it turned into another world.  The part before the river was spectacular and green but after this waterfall is was even moreso and the truly deep, mossy forests really started.  

Compared to most places, the entire day was unbelievable, but in relative terms for Fiordlands, this waterfall started a new section of the trail.  You know, on my next Dusky tramp, if it's a little warmer, I think I'm going to take a swim here.
