The track descends to the valley floor and shortly after that, you arrive in this dead zone.  It's so very different than any other area on the track.  There are dead trees in the forest, but this is the only area where there are hundreds of them.  Notice how muddy that stream looks, it's the only muddy stream you'll find on the track.  It's obvious the slip blocked a small stream but the ground wasn't that wet that it was clear the trees couldn't survive.

  The path skirts the stream and then veers to the right across the slip, which is 100-200 yards away.
