If you were to say, "This looks like an area that has been flooded, you would be correct.  On my first tramp here, this was an idyllic meadow with gentle streams meandering through it.  I even got to watch an eel sinuously swimming downstream.  This time things were different and the entire meadow was flooded  It didn't surprised me that if was flooded so much as that it stayed flooded the whole time I was there.
