In recent years, the Department of Conservation
has been replacing older and functional signs with this
official-looking sign. It really doesn't make sense as anyone who
is at George Sound, didn't get there by accident. Only fifty
trampers a year do the track and I genuinely doubt anyone would be
disappointed if they didn't put such a fancy sign there. It's
kind of silly, but that's what they do.
Polyproplylene long
underwear is really nice to have in the bush. It dries quickly
and stays reasonably warm when wet. Polyprops, as they call them
in New Zealand, are often of this striped variety. I've not seen
them striped elsewhere but in NZ, you can get them everywhere.
