In Deadwood Lagoon
In Deadwood Lagoon
After going through the bloody mess of thigh-deep mud near the lagoon, I walked into it to clean off and get a drink.  The water was cool and oh so delicious.  The lagoon had some strange features, such as that weird grouping of plants growing in the middle.  See the panoramic photo for some others..

Take a look at how steep the valley walls are in the distance yet somehow they are covered in trees.  Well, at least in most places, there is that slip just over my shoulder.  That is quite possibly a tree slide and not a rock slide.  The trees are living on a thin layer of soil covering the rock and sometimes that layer and the trees will slide down the rock and gather in a heap at the bottom.  Sometimes these tree falls are hundreds of meters tall.  I had no idea the valley had such steep valley walls as the surrounding bush is so thick in all directions that you really can't see very far.  The track follows the left side of the valley through the very thick brush.
